Aside from his own accomplishments as a competitior he has trained such champions as Renzo Gracie, the Machado Brothers, Marcio Feitosa, Roleta, Soca, Gordo, Pe de Pano, and many many more.

Carlos Jr. is the head of the Confederation of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which is responsible for organising the Mundial and Pan American Jiu Jitsu championships.
