Everyone who has ever trained with us has been a part of our collective achievements, so thanks again to all.

10th April 2005 - Royler Gracie Seminars Report

We were honoured to host seminars by the legendary Royler Gracie at our Beston-Gracie Newcastle and our Beston-Gracie Central Coast Academies. The seminars focused on no-gi techniques for self-defence and grappling competition. All seminar participants were presented with a certificate signed by Prof. Royler Gracie and Angela Gracie (Director of GracieSeminars.com) to mark this historic occasion.

I was also lucky to attend 2 more of Prof. Royler's seminars in Sydney on Saturday at the academies of Prof. Bruno Panno (Gracie Sydney) and Prof. Paulo Guimaraes & Rob Naumoski (Roots). Some more great techniques and philosophy.

Royler's time in Australia saw him visit Melbourne (two seminars), Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle, Central Coast, Brisbane, and Sydney (two seminars). All of the seminars received great feedback as would be expected. With students from all teams, and many styles attending the seminars by Prof. Royler this visit was another great step forward for Jiu Jitsu in Australia and is a perfect example of how great Jiu Jitsu can be when egos are left behind.

Thanks to Prof. Royler for sharing the techniques and his philosophy of Jiu Jitsu.

Thanks to all the seminars hosts who have treated Royler so well and left him looking forward to his next visit here.

Thanks to all those who supported the seminar especially those who travelled from other cities and made it a wonderful experience.

Thanks also especially to Angela Gracie who gave us all this opportunity and worked very hard behind the scenes to make this all happen.

Thanks to Prof. Bruno Panno, Royler's head representative here in Australia who assisted at the seminars.

Thanks also to our students and friends who also helped Angela behind the scenes.

Prof. Royler will now be taking a well deserved break spending a week surfing along the east coast of Australia.

Below are a few photos from the seminar, we have lots more which I will make available to all either via the website or on CD sometime soon. The group shots will be archived on the gallery page with all the others to remind everyone of the wide range of regular world class visiting instructors we have access to at Beston Gracie Central.

13th March 2005 - Congrations Kieran, Dave, and Hebecca

A great weekend for our team!

Last night Kieran Hewett defeated Steve Gillander in Warriors Realm Mixed Martial Arts event in Queensland. I spoke to Kieran immediately after his fight, he won by unanimous decision and was very happy with his performance. Kieran asked me to especially thank all the people who helped in his preparation for the fight.

Today was the first event of the NSW BJJ Federation Calendar with the 2nd Australian Submission Championships, a no-gi event. Rebecca Fenton took 2nd place in the Womens absolute division, and Dave Frendin shared third place in the Intermediate absolute with a Gracie Team teammate.

I'm extemely proud and happy for all our representatives, and as always thanks to all our team who all helped them prepare, and thanks to those there on the day to support them also.

15th February 2005 -     R O Y L E R     G R A C I E     C O M I N G!

I'm very excited to announce Angela has just confirmed that Royler Gracie will be visiting friends and family in Australia for the end of March and the beginning of April. Of course it will be an honour to have Prof. Royler visiting both Beston Gracie Central academies while he is here.

Famous for his achievements in Sport Jiu Jitsu, ADCC Submission Grappling, and No Rules and Mixed Martial Arts, those who attended Royler's seminars and classes last time he was in Australia will honestly know just how great he is as an instructor.

This is a rare opportunity to meet and train with a living legend of the Martial Arts, so make the most of it.

I will post Royler's exact schedule and other information as soon as I have it.

A big congratulations to Rebecca "cakegirl" Fenton who was graded to blue belt today. Rebecca has been training in Jiu Jitsu for many years now, and with all her experience is a great asset to our team.
