19th June 2004 - New Kids Class in Newcastle

As you can see on the updated timetable, we now have a kids class on Friday afternoons in Newcastle. Classes are conducted at our home academy so please contact Angela on 0438 270 342 if you have someone who is interested in training.

14th June 2004 - GRACIE Team Wins!

Yesterday was the 2nd leg of the NSW BJJ Federation, the Australian Challenge. Congratulations to all competitors, especially those from the GRACIE Team.

1st Gracie Team - 150 points
2nd Roots - 101 points
3rd Machado - 81 points

Congratulations to our own Steven Blackwell who took 2nd place in his first BJJ Competition, and closed out his division with a fellow GRACIE Team teammate. Well done Steve!

The next event in the state circuit is in September. Training for it starts today!

29th May 2004 - Seminar Report and Congratulations Dave

Last night we had Bruno Panno visit the Central Coast academy to teach a seminar of gi and no gi techniques to a combined group from our Newcastle and Central Coast Academies.

Thanks to Bruno for making the trip up, and thanks to all who supported the seminar and made it possible. Thanks to Angela for making it all happen.

Also a big congratulations to Dave Frendin who was presented his well deserved Faixa Azul ("Blue Belt") by Prof. Panno. Congrats again and the best of luck to Dave who is fighting this Saturday in Queensland from all your Gracie Sydney and Beston Gracie Central friends.

Bruno Panno Seminar!

Prof. Bruno Panno, Royler Gracie Black Belt and head instructor of the Gracie Sydney team will be coming to the central coast Academy to hold a seminar. It is scheduled for Friday the 28th of May. See Angela to reserve your spot, there is a discount for those who pre-register.

Australian Challenge 2004

The next tournament in the NSW BJJ Federation circuit is due to be held in Sydney on June 13th. I'm hoping to send along a strong group of students as part of the Gracie Sydney team. See Angela for Entry forms (or download them from www.GracieSydney.com) and make sure to get them back to her before the 9th of June as that is the deadline for registration.

10th April - III NSW BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU CIRCUIT 2004

As can be seen on the calendar page, next weekend (18th of April) is the first tournament of the NSW Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation's circuit. We should have a number of competitors in this event, and many more down to watch and cheer.

Those wishing to compete can download the forms from the calendar page and give them to me, or send them directly to the Federation. Make sure to list "Gracie Sydney" as your team.

17th March - Royce Gracie Seminar - Thanks and Congratulations!

Last night we were honoured to have a seminar by UFC legend Royce Gracie and our Head Instructor Bruno Panno.

Thanks to both Royce and Bruno for paying us a visit, and thanks to Angela for making it all possible

A huge congratulations also to Paul "Matrat" Haffenden, Luke "Lucozade" Nutley, and Glen Phipps who were examined by Royce Gracie and Bruno Panno and awarded their blue belts. Well Done and Well Deserved guys!
13th February 2004 - Royce GRACIE coming

Royce will be visiting our school on tuesday the 16th, after his seminar in Sydney on the weekend of the 13th and 14th. Regular class will be cancelled that night.
13th February 2004 - Congratulations Kieran!

Last night Kieran fought to a draw against Colin Crosby of Queensland, under Shooto Rules. From all reports I've heard it was the fight of the night, with Kieran performing extremely well.

Well done Kieran from all your teammates. Thanks to Jodie and Kerry Dunne who conered Kieran on the night, and to all the guys who helped Kieran prepare for his fight
29th January 2004 - New Logo

I've finally settled on a logo for the school, you can see it on the home page for our website, and at the top of every page. Before the end of the year I should have team patches and t-shirts available.

Over the coming weeks I'll be adding new pages to the website and adding content. Once the site is up and running you'll be able to see all class announcements on this page, as well as any upcoming events on the calendar page.
