Our first ever Pan-American representatives competed this week in the prestigious Pan American Jiu Jitsu championships in California, USA. Luke and Keith "Suave" both coached by Taff Davies at our West Coast academy travelled to the USA with Taff to train at a number of the top academies there, as well as to compete.

I've just heard from Taff and he is very proud of both guys, Luke lost his first match, and Keith "Suave" had a great day making it to the finals and taking home a Silver Medal

Well done to both Luke & Keith for their hard work and results, and to Taff & the other West Coast coaches for producing competitors of international standard.

A big congratulations to all our athletes who competed yesterday in the Submission Grappling championships. All of our representatives performed very well and we took home 3 gold, and one bronze medal.

Congratulations to John Reynolds who won gold in his division winning most matches by submission. A big congratulations to Big Ben who won his weight division in the combined blue/purple belt category, and Sparkle who won the absolute in the combined blue/purple category. In the white belt absolute Mick Eckford took Bronze - well done Mick.

Overall the Gracie Sydney team took first place with many great performances by competitors from all the Gracie Sydney academies - congratulations to Prof. Bruno and all the other instructors.

Thanks to all of our competitors who represented us so well, everyone else who helped them train for the competition, and a special thanks to all the coaching staff - Ben, Steve, Matrat, Lucozade, and Sparkle who all played a huge part in the teams preparation.

On the same day, our West Coast team competed in the West Coast No-Gi Commpetition with many great results for the team

Congrats to all the competitors and coaches Taff, Gav, Simon on their good work with our team taking 2nd place overall.

Also starting from the first Tuesday in April, we will now have a second daytime Gracie Jiu Jitsu class at our Newcastle academy.
